Take Back the Right

Even the name -- the Christian Peace Witness for Iraq -- is a revolutionary act.

To those who are in Washington, in the wet, the wind, and the cold, from those of us who have been careful what we've said and to whom we've said it ... who've sat in the back pews of churches whose national clergy have spoken out...and whose local clergy check their retirement and quiver in the face of dour, conservative right-wingers ...(in four years, the word "Iraq" has not been uttered from the pulpit in the supposed "progressive" Lutheran church I now rarely attend)....to those who are in Washington, thank you. Thank you for making me proud, for the first time in many, many years, to say, yes, this is the peace I believe in, these are the people I call my people.
